I liked the unique ambience, the stunning views from the windows (I stayed at the attic floor), the friendliness of the staff and the amazing Indian restaurant at the same building. The manager even approached me to say they missed me at breakfast! It was a very unique and memorable experience and I will definitely return in my next visits to Durham.

Comfortable beds (after swapping from a double to a twin, great bathroom with huge bath, great breakfast with lots of choice served until 0930 (1000 at weekend), lots of parking spots available.

Fantastic staff very professional and accommodating , the room was warm very clean , had a good nights sleep . The breakfast was outstanding and cooked to your liking .plenty of choice . The hotel was very clean and will be coming back to try the Indian restaurant.keep up your good work.

Farnley Towers is in a great location to explore Durham and the surrounding area. The room was ideal for our stay. It was comfortably furnished with the bed very comfortable. The shower was excellent. We had a lovely bay window looking out on to the street. The breakfast was lovely. It's a short and pleasant walk in to Durham town centre. There you can visit the Cathedral and Castle Further afield are Beamish Living Museum (20mins by car), Hamsterley Forest (under an hour by car), Raby Castle (30mins) with The Bowes Museum slightly longer, but still under an hour. The added bonus is there is Holi & Bhang restaurant in the same building. The food, service and cocktails are all excellent. It is a must whilst stay at Farnley Tower.

A great 2 night stay, room was spacious, spotlessly clean, well maintained and had everything we could of needed. Breakfast was cooked to order with high quality ingredients and also a buffet style breakfast which had everything you could of wanted. The onsite Indian restaurant was great extensive menu executed beautifully. Anna the manager went above and beyond to make our stay special and nothing was to much trouble the whole team provided great service. The hotel is a historical building and has great views, a short walk to Durham centre. Onsite carparking included in the rate is brilliant.

The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Anna was so helpful and hard working. Breakfast was excellent, very good selection and quality produce. The chef worked so hard at getting the food out in a timely manner and very hot. Which is difficult to do. The rooms are spotless and serviced daily. The restaurant within the hotel was well worth a visit and my partner who enjoys Indian food felt it was very good.

Such a beautiful hotel! The staff let us check in 2 hours earlier free of charge which was such a lovely bonus! Staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome. We often struggle to find a good vegan breakfast but the one at Farnley hotel was amazing! Thank you for accommodating us so well.

This guesthouse is fab. From walking in, I loved it. The decor is bright and fun and it was very welcoming. Our room was immaculately clean, bed so comfortable I could have stayed in it all day. Bathroom very clean and shower nice and hot. Breakfast was amazing with the staff being polite, friendly and helpful. Within walking distance to the centre of Durham, although is uphill back so if problems walking then the bus goes by or a taxi is cheap enough. Couldn’t ask for more really and all for a very reasonable price.

A beautiful Victorian mansion, in an elevated location. Our room looked out over the lawn, the town and the countryside beyond. The decor of the guesthouse is in keeping with its era and was spotlessly clean. The staff were cheerful, helpful and polite and the whole atmosphere of the house was restful. There is private parking available and a restaurant that serves Indian cuisine is attached to the house.

The place was beautiful, the hotel manager at reception (Richard) could not do enough for us in fact he’s more than a manager he did everything even cooked breakfast which was outstanding. Also the Indian restaurant below which is owned by the same people is amazing and the manager Hussain can’t do enough for you so if anyone stays at this hotel I would without doubt tell you to visit this restaurant. Amazing experience will come again. And Durham itself is only a 10 minute walk away is fantastic lovely bars and restaurants.
